The Prince George’s County Professional Fire Fighters & Paramedics Association, Local 1619, was established by the International Association of Fire Fighters in 1966 and currently represents over 1,500 personnel. The members of Local 1619 respond to over 150,000 emergency calls per year, protect approximately 500 square miles and serve nearly one million citizens.
Who we are today
Our Professional Fire Fighters, Emergency Medical Technician’s, and Paramedics provide full time protection at twenty six of Prince George’s County’s forty four Fire & EMS Stations and daytime protection on Monday – Friday, between the hours of 7AM – 3PM, at thirteen additional Fire & EMS Stations. In addition, our members currently staff all of the Mobile Intensive Care Units (Advanced Life Support Units) in Prince George’s County. Additional services provided include Fire Prevention & Investigations, the Bomb Squad, the Hazardous Materials Team, Public Education, and all of the Administrative and Logistical Support Services that comprise the backbone of our Fire & EMS Department.
Our Association is dedicated to ensuring that our members are provided with all of the tools that they require to ensure that the citizens and visitors of Prince George’s County receive the highest level of emergency medical service and transportation, fire protection, hazardous material mitigation and technical rescue services.
The Prince George’s County Professional Fire Fighters & Paramedics Association is the exclusive bargaining agent representing the Fire Fighters, Paramedics, and Civilian members of the Prince George’s County Fire & EMS Department. Our organization promotes a safe and healthy working environment for its members by the establishment of just and reasonable working conditions.
