of the International Association of Fire Fighters

Our History

The Prince George’s County Professional Fire Fighters & Paramedics Association, Local 1619, was established by the International Association of Fire Fighters in 1966 and currently represents over 1,500 personnel. The members of Local 1619 respond to over 140,000 emergency calls per annum, protect approximately 500 square miles and serve nearly one million citizens.

Who we are today

Our Association is dedicated to ensuring that our members are provided with all of the tools that they require to ensure that the citizens and visitors of Prince George’s County receive the highest level of emergency medical service and transportation, fire protection, hazardous material mitigation and technical rescue services.

The Prince George’s County Professional Fire Fighters & Paramedics Association is the exclusive bargaining agent representing the Fire Fighters, Paramedics, and Civilian members of the Prince George’s County Fire & EMS Department. Our organization promotes a safe and healthy working environment for its members by the establishment of just and reasonable working conditions.

The labor movement is people. Our unions have brought millions of men and women together, made them members one of another, and given them common tools for common goals. Their goals are goals for all America – and their enemies are the enemies for progress. The two cannot be separated.
